Socrates’ Last Day

If today was the last day of your life, what would you do, what would you say and how would you feel as the hour approached?  What would the wise person do?

Plato’s dialogue Phaedo provides just such a first-hand account. Socrates’ final day in 399 BC ends with Socrates surrounded by followers, and drinking hemlock in an Athenian prison.

Discover why Socrates said the “unexamined life is not worth living” and hear his answers to life’s most important questions: Who am I, What is my purpose, and How can I attain lasting happiness and freedom?  Socrates’ insights can positively impact our day-to-day experience of life.

Philosophy comes alive as we sit in on the conversation from dawn to dusk, and witness Socrates’ courage and calm confidence as he implores his friends not to fear death but to spend their days living well.
