REVERENCE: THE FORGOTTEN VIRTUE
From Nero to Netflix, from funerals to football, our world culture is ever touched by reverence. Yet, what actually constitutes reverence may not be at all obvious. As with all virtues, reverence is encouraged by the wise as worthy of pursuit, but what exactly are we pursuing?
We will have a look at the deeper meaning of reverence and its significance for students of practical philosophy, and explore whether this least-pursued of all virtues could perhaps find us instead, helping us return back home to knowing ourselves.
