Plato’s Divided Line: A How-To Guide
A talk by Preethi Gopinath

The Divided Line, which appears in Book VI of Plato’s Republic, is a simple yet magnificent illustration of the various levels of knowledge and their relationship to reality, indicated as sections on a straight line.

As we construct and study Plato’s Divided Line, we will find answers to some big questions:

What do we know?
• Is it knowledge, or is it opinion?
• Is it true?
How do we know?

Join us for this presentation as we walk the line — from the ever changing world of shadows and opinion into the intelligible world of knowledge and understanding, authored by the Good.   Discover how the Divided Line can serve as a guide to find our way to the Good in our own daily living.

DATE:     Thursday, July 20, 2017
TIME:     7:00 pm
FEE:       $25.00 includes light refreshments
You are encouraged to invite family and friends. No prior knowledge of Plato is needed.
