Barbara Solowey, MA, is a specialist in Emerson, Thoreau and Whitman, and has been teaching American Transcendental literature for almost 30 years in both public and private schools in New York City.

Her work includes classes and lectures given at The School of Practical Philosophy in New York and affiliated schools in Boston, Toronto, New Jersey and Wallkill, NY as well as at The New York Open Center in New York City. She is currently featured with other prominent Emerson scholars in the recently released DVD Emerson: The Ideal in America.

 
Mrs. Solowey has been a student at the School of Practical Philosophy since 1970.
